My name is Thomas, I am Katherine’s son. I received the latest letter that you sent my darling mother. I am sorry to be delivering tragic news to you at this time, my mother has since passed between now and her last correspondence with you. I am positive she meant very much to you, as it seems you did her. As you know she was extremely religious, and it would be fitting to say that she is with Jesus and the finest angels now.
Her departure has left me with the responsibility of making her funeral arrangements and clearing out her home. In fulfilling my duties, I found letters you had sent her throughout her life. I thank you for being good company to her. I did not know if I would ever get the chance to make contact with you, but now that I know you are in good health I would like to invite you to a funeral planting ceremony for her. It will take place in three weeks’ time. You are welcome to stay here with me in her home while her arrangements are being made. It is an honor to speak with you.
If you do so choose to travel here, I hope you’ll bring her half of the letters. My mother never spoke much about her younger life, and I wish to learn more about her. I hope to meet with you soon.
